Young Hollywood Awards

Hey World,

What up YOUNG HOLLYWOOD! Life is mostly good...just like my first Second City show! (I actually titled the first show that I produced at Second City: Life is Mostly Good.)

Anyway, last Thursday night I attended the Young Hollywood Awards. It was a wonderful experience. I met and saw many great people like: Ben Stiller, Mario Lopez, Jennie Garth, Peter Facinelli, and many more. Justin Bieber won a well-deserved award and he is adorable.

What else? I'm really excited about life right now. I have A LOT going on and I'm trying to take one day at a time and not get too overwhelmed because my life is changing so quickly.

I thank God that I said NO to Playboy and YES to Disney =]

I am really thankful for my Mom. She constantly listens and encourages me. I am a lucky girl.

I have a few great friends that I would like mention. I am incredibly fortunate to have such good people in my life in LA.

Thank you:

Alexi Torres, for always being at my side and being my best buddy, my other half, Congrats on your new Tom Hanks movie "Larry Crowne" I love you. You're a rising star.

Lauren Nurn, you're my first friend in LA, from high school & I love you! Congrats on your upcoming wedding, I am so happy for you & Justin =]

Lindsay Beltrame, my friend since third grade private Catholic school, a true friend & I am so lucky to have you always here for me, every day, you are like family

Thank your favorite people in your world because if you are lucky enough to have people who genuinely care about you, let them know that you appreciate it. Also, it's not just about saying it, it's about showing it.

Love,
Lexi

Angel For You

Hey World,

I opened my show at House of Blues with "Angel For You." I wrote this song as I was going through a transition into a new band. It's about my first love. The love story is sad because he came back to see me at my dad's condo at 5 AM but we never re-connected that night...

Matt Linsky wrote the melody. It's very "Dave Matthews," as it repeats itself in both verses. I wrote the lyrics.

Here are the lyrics as I performed it at HOB:

"Let me be your Angel, let me take away your pain.
5 AM is not too late to see your face.

I would change everything
I would give you anything
I would change anything
Just to take you back
(Repeat)

Let me be your angel, let me take away your pain.
I'm pouring myself another drink.
Sorry, now, please I don't want to think.

I would change everything
I would give you anything
I would change anything
Just to take you back

Let me be your angel, let take away your pain...
Let me be your angel, let me take away your pain...
Let me be your angel.
"

Love,
Lexi

Being a Bitch

Hey World,

I just read a wonderful manifesto by a fabulous woman from Chicago. It struck me and I realized...I'm a BITCH. In fact, according to Jo Freeman's essay, I'm a SUPERBITCH. Guess what? I love it.

Being a bitch is the best because bitches truly take on the world. We don't let anyone get in our way. We know what we want and we know what is required in order to get it.

Honestly, I am such a bitch.

"Bitches are..direct, blunt...hard-headed" (Joreen, 50) This is me.

"They never marry anyone or anything: man, mansion, or movement. Thus Bitches prefer to plan their own lives rather than live from day to day, action to action, or person to person...have no fear of competing with anyone..." (Joreen, 50) This is me.

"A true Bitch is self-determined...A woman should be proud to declare she is a Bitch..." (Joreen, 50) Duh! I'm a BITCH!

"She wants to rise high..." (Joreen, 54)

Anyway, on the acting front -- a lot is going on right now. I have a lot of projects that have been "thrown at me" lately. I'm a little overwhelmed but busy is good, right?

Well, to all my bitches-- Take on the World.
& to the Civilians out there reading this--Enjoy the ride!

Love,
Lexi

If you want it bad enough, make it happen

Hey World,

I have been a busy bee! I won my first acting award -- Best Actress in a Short Film in the New York International Film Festival. I am really proud because I have been working for this my whole life and I feel like I am receiving recognition for my hard work, which feels really amazing.

I am single and married to my career. There are a lot of actors, but not enough good actors, not enough clean, focused serious actors. I'm just not interested in dating unless I were to stumble upon a like-minded person.

I went to the TV Land Awards last weekend and met the cast of Glee, Happy Days, Charlies Angels, Love Boat, and many more wonderful people including Tom Hanks, Pam Anderson, Jay Leno, Betty White, Ray Romano, Dorris Roberts, Tim Allen... The night was a dream! I had such a nice time and I really love Sony Pictures, it is by far my favorite lot and just feels like home.

Another new interesting development in my personal life--my dad and I have "taken a break" from our relationship. He showed me his true self when he came to visit me in LA and lately he has been disrespectful to me. He is so bitter! I realize that he is in some sick way, unhappy with my success and happiness. It's hard but I just need to realize that his demeanor will not get in the way of my career. He actually puts me down and tries to break me down. I will absolutely not allow that kind of negativity in my life. Life is too short!

Last night was a fun CAA party and then I went out dancing with Wesley Snipes. What a fun character that man is!

I have met a LOT of great contacts lately so it will be really exciting and interesting to see what my next endeavor will be! There are a lot of new opportunities in the works and I am looking forward to a highly successful summer.

I am so lucky and blessed to be in the position I am in, living my dream and enjoying every minute! I hope to give back by working hard in my involvement with the American Cancer Society.

Much Love,
Alexandra

What Your Agent Should Not Do

Hey World,

I have had many requests via email, facebook & twitter for blogs about Agents! I shall certainly continue this topic.

What Your Agent Should Do
1.) Submit you to roles that are fitting for you
2.) Call you when a casting director would like to see you for a role

What Your Agent Should Not Do
1.) Tell you that you need headshots only from a specific photographer (this is a red flag) If you ask your agent for a recommendation because you are new to the area or business, that is completely different. However, if your agent outwardly suggests that you see a particular photographer before he/she will work for you, peace out and lose their #.

2.) Ask you to pay them.

More to come on Agents -- the wonderful people who work hard to get us good jobs!

Love,
Lexi

Oliver Jacobs

Hey World,

I have been so busy lately! I am editing my script for my next dark film. I just hired a new lovely PR intern. She has great energy! Also, I had a solid meeting with the Dean of Communications at Loyola Marymount and plan on working for him in the future. He is a brilliant man, swirling with creativity.

Besides, I met this interesting filmmaker from Quebec who shares in my love for film noir. I have decided to link up with him and enlist his help with my next film. I also feel that film noir will be my genre! I was extremely impressed to learn that Antonio (that's the filmmaker's name) is a professor at McGill University. McGill is a highly sophisticated University, much like Harvard or Yale. I am often drawn to highly educated individuals...

Anyway, Oliver and I did a photo shoot in Santa Monica yesterday...enjoy !!

Much Love,
Alexandra
