Being a Bitch

Hey World,

I just read a wonderful manifesto by a fabulous woman from Chicago. It struck me and I realized...I'm a BITCH. In fact, according to Jo Freeman's essay, I'm a SUPERBITCH. Guess what? I love it.

Being a bitch is the best because bitches truly take on the world. We don't let anyone get in our way. We know what we want and we know what is required in order to get it.

Honestly, I am such a bitch.

"Bitches are..direct, blunt...hard-headed" (Joreen, 50) This is me.

"They never marry anyone or anything: man, mansion, or movement. Thus Bitches prefer to plan their own lives rather than live from day to day, action to action, or person to person...have no fear of competing with anyone..." (Joreen, 50) This is me.

"A true Bitch is self-determined...A woman should be proud to declare she is a Bitch..." (Joreen, 50) Duh! I'm a BITCH!

"She wants to rise high..." (Joreen, 54)

Anyway, on the acting front -- a lot is going on right now. I have a lot of projects that have been "thrown at me" lately. I'm a little overwhelmed but busy is good, right?

Well, to all my bitches-- Take on the World.
& to the Civilians out there reading this--Enjoy the ride!

Love,
Lexi

If you want it bad enough, make it happen

Hey World,

I have been a busy bee! I won my first acting award -- Best Actress in a Short Film in the New York International Film Festival. I am really proud because I have been working for this my whole life and I feel like I am receiving recognition for my hard work, which feels really amazing.

I am single and married to my career. There are a lot of actors, but not enough good actors, not enough clean, focused serious actors. I'm just not interested in dating unless I were to stumble upon a like-minded person.

I went to the TV Land Awards last weekend and met the cast of Glee, Happy Days, Charlies Angels, Love Boat, and many more wonderful people including Tom Hanks, Pam Anderson, Jay Leno, Betty White, Ray Romano, Dorris Roberts, Tim Allen... The night was a dream! I had such a nice time and I really love Sony Pictures, it is by far my favorite lot and just feels like home.

Another new interesting development in my personal life--my dad and I have "taken a break" from our relationship. He showed me his true self when he came to visit me in LA and lately he has been disrespectful to me. He is so bitter! I realize that he is in some sick way, unhappy with my success and happiness. It's hard but I just need to realize that his demeanor will not get in the way of my career. He actually puts me down and tries to break me down. I will absolutely not allow that kind of negativity in my life. Life is too short!

Last night was a fun CAA party and then I went out dancing with Wesley Snipes. What a fun character that man is!

I have met a LOT of great contacts lately so it will be really exciting and interesting to see what my next endeavor will be! There are a lot of new opportunities in the works and I am looking forward to a highly successful summer.

I am so lucky and blessed to be in the position I am in, living my dream and enjoying every minute! I hope to give back by working hard in my involvement with the American Cancer Society.

Much Love,
Alexandra

What Your Agent Should Not Do

Hey World,

I have had many requests via email, facebook & twitter for blogs about Agents! I shall certainly continue this topic.

What Your Agent Should Do
1.) Submit you to roles that are fitting for you
2.) Call you when a casting director would like to see you for a role

What Your Agent Should Not Do
1.) Tell you that you need headshots only from a specific photographer (this is a red flag) If you ask your agent for a recommendation because you are new to the area or business, that is completely different. However, if your agent outwardly suggests that you see a particular photographer before he/she will work for you, peace out and lose their #.

2.) Ask you to pay them.

More to come on Agents -- the wonderful people who work hard to get us good jobs!

Love,
Lexi

Oliver Jacobs

Hey World,

I have been so busy lately! I am editing my script for my next dark film. I just hired a new lovely PR intern. She has great energy! Also, I had a solid meeting with the Dean of Communications at Loyola Marymount and plan on working for him in the future. He is a brilliant man, swirling with creativity.

Besides, I met this interesting filmmaker from Quebec who shares in my love for film noir. I have decided to link up with him and enlist his help with my next film. I also feel that film noir will be my genre! I was extremely impressed to learn that Antonio (that's the filmmaker's name) is a professor at McGill University. McGill is a highly sophisticated University, much like Harvard or Yale. I am often drawn to highly educated individuals...

Anyway, Oliver and I did a photo shoot in Santa Monica yesterday...enjoy !!

Much Love,
Alexandra

Forgetting You

Hey World,

I sang this song Friday night at House of Blues...

"Forgetting You"

I've been trying to forget my first love,
from the first day of the end,
I've been having a hard time forgetting,
It's not easy letting go of my friend.

I've been trying to forget his eyes,
His kisses made me so high,
How he held me close when I was asleep
He gave me all these sweet moments to keep.

Chorus:
You wouldn't let me let you go
You wouldn't let me let you go
The only one for me that's all I know
You wouldn't let me let you go

I've been trying to remember his faults
He wasn't the perfect guy I made him out to be.
How he asked for that girl's number at the mall,
He was never there to catch my fall.

I've discovered the way to forget him.
I tell myself I'm gonna be fine.
This new life is full of dreams,
Everything's getting better and better it seems.

You wouldn't let me let you go
You wouldn't let me let you go
Not the one for me that's all I know
You wouldn't let me let you go

Much Love,
Lexi

Take on the World

Hey World,

I will be performing my new song "Take On the World" in my set FRIDAY NIGHT, HOUSE OF BLUES =] See you there. Here are the lyrics so you can sing along Friday night!

"Take On the World" Copywritten by Alexandra DiNovi
Sorry that I broke your heart.
Sorry that I didn't like you from the start.
Sorry that you were not the one.
I'm sorry because we are done.
Every day I think of you.
Please don't forget me, I feel brand new.
I know that now what we had is gone.
I'll stay up, I know that I'll strong.

I need you, I need you.
I know my heart is true.
I wanna take on the world with you.
I need you, I need you.
I know my heart is true.
I wanna take on the world with you.

I'm learning to love me without you.
It's really hard, it's what I have to do.
Memories of you play in my head.
I'll never forget all the words you said.
I love you forever.
I hope you miss me, come back in awhile.

I need you, I need you.
I know my heart is true.
I wanna take on the world with you
I need you, I need you.
I know my heart is true.
I wanna take on the world with you.

Come back, come back for awhile.
Come back and make me smile.
You light me up
...
Love,
Lexi
